I once urged my mother to move to California because of the forests that they had (We also had some family there). She did that. While I'm stuck in the big city I dreamt of forested places like Oregon where I would live off the land and be surrounded by beauty. Now that I'm fed up with the US I pine for Canada. While poverty keeps me where I am in shackles my dreams have not faded.

The perceptions of the afterlife in Jesus' time where very different and variable than they are now.
Paradise, in that scripture, does not refer to earthly paradise but to a region in the underworld (Hades/Sheol) were the spirits of the righteous dwelled in opposition to Gehenna (Lake of Fire) where the evil dwelled. It was believed to be a foretaste of heaven and hell throughout eternity. Both groups awaited the resurrection when they will receive a body and then go to either heaven or hell.
There was a confusing tangle of ideas and words to describe it since every culture and person had variations of Sheol - Hades/Heaven in their mindset. Below is an example. Note that Christ is in Paradise during his death (See the lines between the crosses and where they lead to.).

Were the apostles of the 'Anointed class' when they partook?
by why144000 inaccording to john 20:22 the apostles did not receive the holy spirit until after jesus was resurrected.
wouldn't this make them part of 'the other sheep' when they partook of the bread and wine?.

Man in Sweden accidently receives Putin's mail
by jwleaks ina resident of a backwater swedish town called trelleborg was shocked to open his mailbox and find a letter addressed to none other than russia’s president, vladimir putin.
the only thing that per's home address has in common with the russian president’s is the number 23, while also noting that the town of trelleborg is roughly 1,532 kilometers (951 miles) from moscow.. .
when asked if he was curious about what's in the letter per replied "yes, of course i am.

Maybe it was a broken-heart letter from Donald Trump.

A baffling physics question
by FatFreek 2005 infor several weeks i've been treating myself to a hot chocolate milk (well, soymilk) before bedtime.
some 16 oz soymilk which i heat on high in our microwave oven.
this is just enough time where the liquid begins to bubble along the top edge.. i then take it out of the microwave and place it on my kitchen gram scale, stir it good enough to redistribute the heat, then reset the scale to zero grams.. next, i squeeze in the hershey's sytup, "special dark mildly sweet chocolate" (fat free) into the warmed soymilk till the scale reads some 30 grams.

I don't know if soymilk has water but it seems that something is evaporating with each microwaving.
Maybe this guy knows.

Why are the evolutionist's so upset?
by Esse quam videri inso many evolutionist's on this forum are upset at the terror attacks in europe such as recently in sweden.
it is just a logical step in the evolution of the human race.
should you not rather be celebrating the great changes taking place right before your eyes and constructing detailed explanations of the cell structure and dna development in the human brain.. you can't eat your cake and still have it.

Star stuff > Earth stuff > life stuff > brain stuff > Consciousness (Mind is what brain does.).
As Carl Sagan once said "We are star stuff contemplating star stuff."
As for Social Darwinism, society can evolve into anything it wants to. It can evolve into peaceful cultures versus warrior cultures; Altruistic versus Ayn Randian hell. And yes, there is a genetic component to it.

Would you give up one year at the end of your life if you could relive any one day in the past?
by Esse quam videri inlike the question asks: if you could relive any one day of your life, any age, any place and remember everything about it afterwards, would you be willing to live one year shorter at the end of your life?
one day for one year?.
i realize that someone well on in years would think twice about it, but, what about you younger ones?

Don't know if this has been covered in this thread but news is that Ivanka, who was very moved by the gas attack, may have moved her father to engage in the strike.

A watcher,
I will be obeying the command of Jesus to "Keep doing this in remembrance of me."
You won't be obeying the command to do that in remembrance of him. How could you if you pass the wine and crackers to somebody else who'll then pass them to somebody else who won't do anything except pass them to yet another non-partaker? You'll be doing nothing in his honor except mere attendance.
Notalone is right in describing it as a black mass.
